Goodbye normal everyday life, we are finally off on our trip. Only 12 months late. An early start, bed at 1 am up at 5 am to be on the road just after 6am! What a beginning. I’ll put up with being tired to finally get away on this trip.
Renmark was our destination on day one, before moving on about lunchtime. Half hour out of Renmark and I had my first close encounter with an emu just wandering across the road. I had to jump on the anchors to avoid cleaning him up, all with Carolyn yelling “EMU EMU EMU” in my left ear!
Was that EMU you say? Up this way we call them bush chooks! Rolls off the tongue much better..
Woof Woof Woof
Thought you might like to know that Charlie the wonderdog is settling in very well. Wish you were here to meet him! He’s been enjoying chasing birds and possums and he’s putting up with the smothering love of all the kids (and 1 adult!). He’s slept very well in the laundry at night without a sound and without waking us up. He’s been happy and settled during the day – even spent the rainy afternoon under the house in his carpeted kingdom without getting a bit wet! He has not scratched any wood work, bitten any children or shown any signs of being scared of all the noise and shouting that goes on in our house – perhaps just a little scared of the coffee machine when it went on today. Missing you already but hope you are enjoying every moment.

Ha! Loving reading your blog Moores. I wonder what the emu was yelling as he saw you all hurtling towards him?! Big love to you all.
